Do you want your candle holder to be able to break a window? Well this hand hammered plate of 1080 cold-rolled steel is for you. It feels heavy in the hand, but doesn't look like your standard department store decor.
Production Process:
I heat a thick 1/8" plate to 2000°F and beat the hell out of it to get a nice textured look I think is pleasing to the eye. I then clamp it in a vice and beat in those wavy curves. After it's fully formed I vigorously wire brush the forge scale off at 20,000 rpms and apply a beeswax and boiled linseed oil coating at ~500°F. I apply the heat unevenly to get a unique color gradient of blues, purples, light browns and the color of straw/wheat you see in the photo.
